Milton was incorporated on December 1, 2006, out of the unincorporated northernmost part of northern Fulton County. For the 10th year running, Milton has been certified as a Community Wildlife Habitat by the National Wildlife Federation – a special distinction that recognizes efforts to make our city “healthier, greener and more wildlife-friendly.” The “Heart of Milton” is located in Downtown Crabapple. Festivals abound in the Spring & Fall throughout Milton! The vision in Milton focuses on a its exceptionally high quality of life, strong sense of place and community, and dedication to preserving our rural heritage.

Named after Revolutionary War Hero John Milton, Milton is close enough to major attractions in both the city of Atlanta & Sandy Springs and “country” areas of Alpharetta & Woodstock. Milton has one of the highest standards of living in the state of Georgia. It is also ranked as one of the best places to live in Georgia and is one of the safest also. Being known for its rural & equestrian heritage, you may catch sight of grazing horses often. On a little bit of a personal note, Milton is one of those areas in Georgia you LOVE driving through with the top down (assuming you own a convertible).

- In March 2023, home sales were up by 30% with new listings staying steady. Prices will NOT be going down in Milton!
- Average days on market was eight (8) which is technically “up” from seven (7) days on market in early 2022.
- Average price per square foot was up 24% from March 2022 and priced at $254.
- Being just outside Alpharetta, Milton is one of the fastest growing cities in Georgia.

Milton school are located in Fulton County. The original Milton High School was built in 1921. The school was named a School of Excellence in the 1997–98 school year by the Georgia Department of Education, and an outstanding high school the following year by the US News & World Report. The new campus using the “academy model” was built in 2005. Milton High School has won State Championships in Baseball, Basketball, Cheerleading, Cross Country, Football, Golf, Gymnastics, Lacrosse, Soccer, Tennis, & Wrestling! Cambridge High School opened its doors in 2012 due to overcrowding of Alpharetta High School & Milton High School. With the “overflow” of students also came an overflow of competitive athletes and scholars!!
